Aura of Protection give me strength and the accuracy of a Hawk

The Trojan company rushed to the wall as the Greeks charged Troy. As they ran up the wall Sergestus silently prayed to Ares the God of War to protect him during the battle, although they were only fighting from the wall he didn’t want to be hurt. The suns heat burned us as they shot the enemy, the war was in its the tenth year just as summer was arriving. Although that company usually didn’t fight hand to hand with the Greeks that unit of archers was tired of guarding the city from the wall. Everyone wanted the honor of fighting an enemy face to face, and killing from afar gave no honor to our families.
When the battle subsided Sergestus wearily sling his bow and walked down the ramps. He was a small young man with black hair. He wasn’t extremely strong save his arms which had grown because he was a bowman. When he reached the crowd of his companions at the bottom of the ramp Euryalus shouted out and Sergestus walked to his friend.
Although the two young men were not brothers they had grown up as close as brothers could be. Sergustus had been raised by his Father until he was twelve because his mother had died during childbirth. But his father Mnestheus was a warrior and often Euryalus’s Mother would care for borth families.
The two friends grew even closer a year ago when Sergestu’s father died covering the retreat of the Trojans. Cloanthus the Trojan captain commended Mnestheus’s bravery and therefore Sergestus had much honor in his family even though he was the only one still alive. Still he knew that his father had given his life in order to protect the many warriors who escaped to fight another day.
Once again Cloanthus came to the gathered men to assign the men to duties, fortunately Sergestus was not on guard for the entire day so he put away his bow in his house and went to explore the city. As he walked he thought about the war, his father, and how he would get away from Euryalus’s mother. Even though he was glad that she took care of him, he felt that he was leeching off of their family with nothing in return. Although he was nearly a part of this family he still thought that he should start his own life. As his thoughts wandered he began to think about ways to strike out on his own, at the moment it was impossible because of his meager pay and the war.
He finally sat down for a meal and thought about Helen and how she started this war. Paris was only a little older than himself and yet it seemed unfair that he had caused this war by bringing Helen into Troy. Even though her beauty was unsurpassed by any in the city it wasn’t fair that he had the right to cause the war that killed his father. It also ruined many others families and yet no one was upset because he was noble born.
As he finishes his meal he exits the tavern and he see’s a beautiful girl bartering with a merchant for a robe. As he watched her she bought the cloak and walked away. So he followed her, for an hour he slowly watched this girl and was amazed to find how clever she was. When at last he thought he would leave her a thief kidnapped her and he ran to her rescue. It was very lucky that he was around otherwise she might have been killed.
When this mysterious girl was rescued she thanked Sergestus but immediately left. After that day they usually ran into each other every week. Than as time went on they ran into each other everyday. Until finally the girl brought up her courage and asked Sergestus if they could see each other. After that they met in the mountains above Troy every day discussing their feelings and love. As it turns out they had fallen in love at first sight. Than suddenly Sergestus felt the urge to ask this girl to marry him. With her and him married he could leave his family with his best friend and create his own family.
With the wedding day planned Sergestus was called into battle and he fought and saved his entire company from a cunning trick. But than the Trojan horse was delivered to Troy and after the Partying had subsided the Greeks Charged. And Amata had to witness her soon to be Husband killed before her very eyes. Than she saw herself being sold into slavery, and instead of that horror she cast herself off the wall of Troy.

I thought that your story/paper was really interesting and made me want to keep reading to find out what would happen next to this young man. The detail that you used to describe both the characters and the events that were going on was well done. However, when you first introduced the beautiful girl to the reader, you mentioned that the man was amazed by how clever she was. I was just wondering what she did to make herself appear to be clever. Also, the names that you used were really great for the time and place that your story took place. I really enjoyed reading your paper. Great job!!

I thought that your story was really good. I didn't see that twist coming at all I was so suprised that it ended so miserably. I thought the names you chose were very appropriate, and made the story seem more real. I enjoyed reading your paper, eventhough it was so tagic.

What a twist you used at the end of the story! I absolutely thought the story was going to end happily with Sergestus marrying his true love and living happily ever after with her. You used many insightful references to the Trojan war such as the relationship between Helen and Paris and the Trojan horse. I also liked the quote you started out with about asking for protection in battle. It reminded me of playing football; I pray that all the players have a safe game. It's funny though how when you're in the heat of a game (or heat of a battle too) you don't think about getting hurt as everything is moving so fast around you. Still, there is some external force that you look to to keep you safe and give you comfort knowing you will come out alive.

oh wow, i definately didnt expect that ending to happen- an interesting twist to the story line! i liked the fact that his father gave his life in the war and the fact that your character aslo ended up sacrificing for the sake of others too. i also liked how you tied your story into the trojan war as well. great job!

You show the idea of honor and war in the times of Troy and the Trojans well in your paper; you seem like you are well educated in the history of these ancient people. The relationship between the two friends is strengthened when the second father dies, which makes the story more intriguing to read and makes you want to find out what the two friends end up doing. i was also wondering what the man witnessed that showed that the girl was so clever. all in all your paper flowed well and kept me interested.
